Worth the Wine, Co. is a registered 501(C)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the prevention of cruelty to animals. The organization operates a recycling project which combines our appreciation for the natural setting of vineyards with our love of rescue animals. Each purchase supports local animal shelters or sanctuaries.
The project began in November, 2013, with a visit to Blenheim Vineyards in Charlottesville, VA, followed by an event at Old House Vineyards in Stevensburg, VA. It was observed that wine bottles are often thrown away after events or tastings. By recycling these bottles, we are able to make crafts and candles for gifts, decorations, craft fairs, and fundraisers.
Candle purchases are “worth the wine” because they are made with bottles donated by vineyards and wine lovers to the recycling project. As long-time animal rescue volunteers, it is important that each purchase supports our beloved furry friends.
Worth the Wine candles are made with recycled and renewable material. Repurposed wine bottles and various recycled containers are filled with 100% all natural soy wax derived from U.S grown soybeans. Soy candles burn longer and cleaner, with minimal soot buildup, and hold lovely fragrances of all kinds. Plant-based jute twine and natural wax seals provide a finishing touch.
Take the aroma of the vineyard home with you. Our signature wine candle scent is “Muscadine Grape,” which is a grape native to the southeastern U.S. and used in a variety of wines. Other fragrances include Sweet Sangria, French Oak Barrel, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and a variety of herbs and spices.
The tops of the recycled wine bottles are used to make hurricane style glass shades, which combined with tea light or votive candles, make an excellent table decoration or dinner party addition.
Eco-friendly beeswax is used in some candles, which has a sweet, earthy aroma and air purifying properties, such as reducing indoor pollutants.
